Event Review: Corning, NY
Honest, experience-based reviews of regional vending events — written for makers and small business owners deciding where their time, money, and energy actually belong.
In 2025, I made a very intentional decision:
I stopped clinging to what felt familiar and started testing new towns—at the same time I was learning how to sell as a mobile hat trailer.
So in the nature of chasing what is challenging I signed up for all new events in 2025.
This pivot came directly from my growing resentment toward Ithaca and my desire to remove it from my brand identity.
To do that, I needed to:
Reposition North Ferry Hats as Finger Lakes–based, not town-specific
Reach hat fam outside the Ithaca bubble
Stop relying on elitist, gatekept events for validation and income
So I focused on 3 other Finger Lakes Small Towns instead:
Skaneateles (beautiful, but nearly impossible to penetrate)
Canandaigua (promising, mixed results)
Corning (the sleeper hit)
This post is my broad review of Corning events as a whole, based on five different festivals across the year.
